I’m sure you’ve heard by now that we’re half way through 2011 and you’d better get on those goals if you haven’t started them yet. But that’s not our subject for today. Rather than just pushing your way through the rest of 2011 I encourage you to stop. Yes, stop and take a good look around. Where are you? Are you headed in the direction that will make you happy, fulfilled, satisfied, and help you accomplish your life goals? More specifically, how does your business look? Are you tiring of doing certain things, positive that you don’t want to do something anymore, or don’t feel that an aspect of your business is in line with your mission and vision? Rather than looking back at where you were in January, take July as the opportunity to look at where you want to be in August, and even December. Here are some areas to consider:
Social Media: are you accomplishing your goals here or do you need to make a change? Is what you’re sharing relevant to your fans or are you not being social?
Image: could you use a new picture or new design on your website or business cards? Make sure that your image reflects who you are and what your business is about, not what it’s “supposed” to show.
Description: do you actually do what your website, paper literature and social profiles say you do? Or have you moved onto something else and either not recognized it or updated them? Consider what you’re really doing in your business, the services you provide people and if you’re capturing that in the most effective and descriptive way possible on your literature.
Products/services: just because everyone has a certain type of product, it doesn’t mean it’s right for you. If your clients aren’t buying that product or service, reconsider what they would be interested in buying and update your products and services to reflect that. Likewise, if you don’t feel that a service or product reflects what you do as a business, stop offering it!
So what about you? Does you business need a little freshening up? Are you positioned to finish 2011 strong or will you just be coasting? What adjustments do you need to make to make 2011 your best year yet?
