Stress Free Family 2012

2012 is just a few days away and I want your family to be prepared this year to have your lowest-stress and most enjoyable year ever.  So here are 5 things you can do to make 2012 your best year yet:

1-Communicate!  You don’t have to say a lot, but say what’s on your heart, where you are and important things people in your family need to know.  All the technology we have now makes it easier than ever to let your family know what’s going on.

2-Eat right.  There’s a lot of junk out there, but there are also healthy options.  I share several ideas each month on Twitter for healthier eating options, but there are lots of great recipes on sites like Food Network, Family Fun, Kaboose, and King Arthur that will help you transform all meals of the day into healthier ones.

3-Spend time together. I don’t mean that you have to gather around the diner table every night, sing songs or take epic car trips around the world (unless you all enjoy that).  What I mean is building time, at least one day or several evening (at minimum), into each month where you’re all together doing something fun, relaxing, or entertaining.

4-Take time off.  If you’re all going 24/7 you’ll all end up running each other into the ground.  Being this busy is very typical in many families today, but it’s not healthy.  Taking time off, reducing the number of activities you do and doing stress relieving activities like running, walking and yoga will help keep the stress level down around the house.

5-Expect change.  There’s no way that things won’t change.  By accepting that change is inevitable and preparing physically, mentally, and financially you’ll be ready for whatever comes your way.

What do you plan to do differently with your family in 2012 so you’re all less stressed and have better relationships?
